night report 6/20/14

Finally had a chance to get out on the lake and do some night fishing Friday evening.Put in at the dam at around 7:30pm still hot as all get out.Cruised around trying to mark a few fish not much happening.Rode out to main channel going into Jakes and started to mark a few. Put out the rods and had two a 24" and a 25" in the boat before dark. Then as the sun wend down the fish vanished. Started to troll around still could not find anything. Then around 12:30am the wind picked up and the fish re appeared. Still the bite was not strong but did manage to get our three man limit around 2:30am. 10 of the fish were legal size. Was nice to catch some fish and get to spend some time on the lake.

Not a bad way to spend an evening once you got out of the heat. Also nice to hear of several “keepers” being caught. When you say trolling, did you mean pulling lures or utilizing live bait? If herring, I assume you were downrodding, and if so, was there a preferred depth? Any other preferred general circumstances where you caught them such as points, humps, or channels?

We were fishing downrods trying to concentrate on humps near channels. All fish were caught between the 40 ft over 150 earlier and 60ft over 120 later that nite.Fish seemed to bite better when we were moving around. 5 to 1 mph.
