Nighttime inshore fishing

We have some non-fishing family members coming to Edisto over Labor Day. If I fish near low tide next weekend I will be out at 5-5:30 or even earlier so that I can get some fishing in over the weekend. Anyone have any experience with pre-dawn fishing inshore? I have heard that night fishing around docks for trout can be productive. I know that the first issue is hanging with non-fishermen but it’s family so you know…

I don’t see many people on here talk about night fishing, with the exception of flounder gigging. Used to fish at night in Texas when I was a kid, and it was very productive for reds. Not sure about South Carolina.

I used to night fish for reds around docks when I was a younger. Go to Walmart and get the red or green bobbers that have the little batteries in them and light up. It’s a blast watching the little red light zing around when you’re on a big fish.

I have the most luck on topwater lures once the sun comes up, but I wouldn’t count it out, especially if you have some light around the docks.
