Nippy Wednesday

I was shocked to see that water temps had fallen to 51.7 and the wind had a little more bite to it than we liked, so we decided to pull planer boards and big corks in Beard’s Creek where we thought we’d be a little protected. Never really saw any concentrations of fish. Wound up spending time going around a shallow hump between the Osprey’s and a small island (sure Curly Dog, and I hope your ribs heal, knows where this is). Got a short, a 21, 22, 23, and a 26 incher. Had about a half dozen strikes where they just killed the bait, but didn’t hook up, and had one break off. Most fish caught were in 20-30 feet of water. Nice enough day and conditions will get better.

TEAM LAID BACK

Just using live herring for now.

Nice! Looks like you guys had a good day. Overall it was such a relatively warm winter, but it doesn’t want to go away. The 10 day forecast is showing some nights in the 30s ten days out.

Sounds like a fun day to me. A friend and I tried spooning the white perch after work today. We got lucky, considering the depthfinder wasn’t working. We had 10 perch, 1 very big crappie and 4 short stripers in the elbow area. All of the fish were atleast 20’ deep or deeper when they bit.
In my bass tournament last Saturday the guy who won fished deeper than everyone else. He caught all of his bass 15’ or deeper. Seems to me like a lot of the fish on Murray haven’t figured out that it is spring yet!

It aint spring when the water temp is in the low 50’s hope it will come up soon! My cut bait is not doing as well as it was, but lots of wisker fish tho good size!

I was looking back, last year in mid march the temp jumped from 55 to 62 in a few days. The bait was showing up in my lights for the first time on March 17th, surface water was 62. Fish were schooling pretty good right at the dam. A little behind this year. My wife is taking the kids to pittsuburgh for 10 days in a week, hope it warms because I plan on fishing when not at work. Might sleep a few hours, but not sure about that.
