So I’ve been told in the past by dnr that there’s no cougars in South Carolina so can anyone tell me what this is. I’ve had two trapper friends look at it and also agree it’s a cougar and a fat and healthy one at that
Will have to upload from home computer when I get home sorry folks
We had one in Chicago about 7-8 years ago. Not in the woods or outskirts but literally jumping fences through backyards in the city. Cops unloaded on it but there wasn’t much else they could do.

I’ve personally seen one, maybe 15-18 years ago now. Haven’t seen anything like that since. I see bobcats frequently on my hunting property, but no big kitties.
I believe they are here, very small numbers, but they are around.

Could just be the angle but the tail doesn’t look long enough.

I apologize, Sir. Just having fun, and I do realize it is “reality” TV.
However, Cougars aren’t to be taken lightly as they are very dangerous, and the reality is there are lots of Cougars in SC. There have been many unreported Cougar attacks to men between the age of 25-30. I have heard it happens frequently in Mt. Pleasant at grocery stores, fitness clubs, etc., and many times in broad daylight…
DNR really should step in and instill some kind of Quality Cougar Management program, or at least allow dog drives to control the population… It’s getting out of hand…

If I was 20-25 and single I’d dog drive some.
its funny how every so called cougar/jaguar/panther/puma is a blurry ass picture at night or a picture of a house cat 100 yards away.
No question I saw one many years ago. I’d say it is possible that we have a few passing through. Florida is not that far away.
I’ve seen many surveillance and game camera pics. Seen some crazy stuff like a bear, skunk, and wolf… never seen a Cougar.
Happybirdfarm, I’d send your pic to DNR or some other wildlife agency and see what they have to say. Keep us all posted on if you get any more pics.
Unfortunately I think that’s a picture of a dog…I was hoping for a cougar!

Did you see cat like prints?
Tail doesn’t look long enough.
Though I’m confident we have cougars. My grandpa saw one in Awendaw 20 years ago and my uncle saw a mother and babies by the twin ponds about 15 years ago.
They are just very elusive. Hell we have bears around that are very rare too. I’ve hunted for over 20 years and never seen a hint of one but my cousin has pics on the deer camera 5 miles away.
