Ok - it’s been a while - but I’m back from the edge of this world - killing wildlife once again. It’s been 13 weeks since 5 artery bypass surgery & there for a while I didn’t think I’d see the really blue water again - but I’m about 200% better now - no chest pain & alot stronger - so lets get on with the report !!!
Fished with The Super Fly , Christian, & Kane. Kane looks alot better without the mask & I recall when he used to wrestle under the name Isack Yankem ( the evil dentist) & it seems that Christian & Edge have split up as a tag team over some woman. The Superfly Jimmy still keeps a clean boat & would hit you with a flying head butt if you made a mess & didn’t clean up. We fished the ledge a little south & were on a hot bottom bite with all the usual critters & the box was filling up. We kept a limit of 4 lb + beeliners & some huge red porgys along with the usual assortment of triggers & such. Christian was using a manual penn 6/0 with 80 lb spider wire & us aging wrestlers were using electrics. We knew we were on good bottom because from time to time we would hang up in the rocks. The biggest beeliners were suspended 20’ above the bottom. Christian hooked up a small beeliner & let it sit on the bottom a while & suddenly the rod bent down & the match was on !! The critter didn’t want to leave the bottom & Christian held his ground & pumped & reeled & worked his butt off for what seemed like forever - it was probably only about 15 minutes. Then we saw color under the boat & soon had the 47 lb gag grouper on the deck - Jimmy hit him with a flying elbow & Kane pinned him & I instinctively dropped to the deck & administered the 3 count. The beast was officially weighed in at Tolers Cove & Christian will be listed in the trident tourney as Grouper Champion & will proudly wear the title belt!!
