Skunked…thats the word for this morn. North winds were white capping the waves and it was chilly. Frontal passage and Ernesto passage. The fish seemed to have lock jaw. No fish schooling, not even one. Lots of people seeking shelter in the Yacht Cove with me. I didnt see the first fish caught. Back home at 9:00 am. You know about the bad day fishing. Oh-well, maybe the wind will blow harder and I’ll go windsurfing.
Magna, ya sound like me…neither rain sleet or snow…(or wind), Ya got the fever.
Cant wait till Sunday, CYA out there.
don’t talk like that,i was wanting to do a little night fishing this weekend.has anyone picked up any catfish lately while striper fishing? wanting to try for both while out on the water.
I have always done well with cut herring for catfish. Chum the water up with some cheap, wet dog food and usually you will have a good night. We have been catching cats all summer but mostly in coves off of the main channel.
I havent caught the first catfish. I have caught some stinkin Gar though. But, lately I’ve just been chasing schooling fish. However, (yall might want to sit down on this one) my Dad and I did catch some catfish schooling with some stripers in Louisiana. I’m not kidding. After about the third catfish (6-7 lb), another catfish threw the hook at the boat and the “Rattlin Rogue” caught me in the gristle of my knee cap. We went to the hospital and got the hook removed. I dont fish for catfish much, but if one bites the hook his a goin in the cooler.
thanks guys.i know this is a striper site so thanks again for the info on the catfish.going tonight whatever bites thats what i’m fishing for.
Same story on Hartwell this am, nothing. We had lines in the water before 6am and pulled, pulled, pulled and pulled some more. Did not mark many fish at all and from the radio sounds it was the same for all other boats out there this am.
Probably my last trip for a while since it is time to get ready for deer season
