New boat on the way this week and I need to get a depth finder on it. I don’t need anything fancy and I pretty much fish the same spots so I really don’t need GPS. I use it more for water temp/getting in close to the shallows and keeping an eye on the battery. New boat has two batteries so I am not so concerned about that anymore. Anyone have suggestions on one around or below the $200 mark or has anyone had a bad experience with a certain model that I should steer clear of. I am putting it on an 18 center console. Appreciate any input.
So you plan on fishing the same spots for the lifetime of this boat?
I would say “IMO”, but this is a fact!.. LOL If you are going to have a new 18’ center console fishing around Charleston, it is just a matter of time before you will be kicking yourself for not having a combo FF/GPS. The price difference is too close these days to go with just a FF on a boat that size. Sooner or later you will want to hit some new areas and/or head to some of the reefs.
I don’t know if this is still avaialable or not, but the the post is still there. This guy posted a Lowrance Elite-5 DSI w/GPS that’s only 3 mo old in the Midlands Striper Club forum for $300 obo. This would be a worth looking into for your boat if he still has it.

I have a Hummingbird 365i GPS fisfinder combo with the transducer that is new in in the box unopened I picked it up from Cabelas about 2 weeks ago they are all over the internet for 275-300, I will let it go for 225.
I also have a Hummingbird 385ci color GPS fishfinder combo with the transducer that I bought a couple of months back and put on the boat and used a couple of times, it is back in the box in new condition, I will let it go for 400 they list at 499 new.
I got a HDS8 Insight so I no longer have a need for these.
