Pretty much what everyone said about the SSS, and add to that if your like me and were a hat 99% of the time. One Bounce sheet under your hat. I’ve even went as far as stapling them in.

too late i already knew that trick from people on base 
good luck finding it but my trick is the 98% deet off spray. comes in a little bottle and its like $4 but a spray on each wrist, , top off the head, and neck then wipe it on exposed skin seems to work for me. top that off with sunscreen and i get bit a million times less.
I spray my hat and cloths with the oil and no problems the rest of the day.Horse flies hang under the t top but will not come near you.
