No show cobia trip 6/2

Hit the cans and the 60 on an incredible ocean Thursday AM. Didn’t see a one and it didn’t look like anyone else did either. Plenty of life and great water clarity just no brown fish to be seen. Decided to go hit some live bottom to put a few bsb and vermillion and joltheds in the box for supper. Great day even if no target species seen.

Surely there were some long-runners who made it out to the Mid-Atlantic Ridge in that smooth AM sea…

Had the same goal for yesterday and a similar plan. First problem, could not catch menhaden so sabikid bait all day. Like you I saw no brown fish at the 60 but lots of spades. Spent remainder of day in 80-100’. Lots of sharks and BSBs, few vermillion and one nice red snapper…all returned. Hoped the Cobia would come up out there, but he did not. Great when you can run 40 mph and see so well in the water. Nice view of large hammerhead that came up to the boat.

That water was soo nice

me 3… i mean i could have wrote this report lol

Im down further south and went friday. We had to really run around Hilton Head looking for menhaden but glad we did. Finally found good sized menhaden off the north end beach but they were scattered around and it took a while to fill the bait well.Took the boys out to the Betsy Ross for their first Cobia trip which worked out nicely.Lots of sharks as well and had a few hook ups with a shark on one line and a Cobia on the other.

Ha we saw you guys come in on Thursday at the Betsy Ross. We were right behind you when you anchored up and brought home a couple as well. We left maybe 60 minutes after you got there and headed over to 6HI and pulled in some bsb, spade, grouper, a Cuda and a 7-8’ bull shark. Had two 13 year olds with me so they were whipped.

Tried for cobia at eagles nest same day. Looks like we should have gone to the parking lot.
Ran to snapper banks and filled the boxes with bottom dinner.
Great day on the water.
