No Skunk Today

I dragged the kayak down this morning to try my luck in the Paradise area. Threw the cast nest a few times and rounded up some MM and FM and headed across the river. I set up on one of the many docks and waited but no one was interested. Went to another dock, zilch, nada. Tried one more and still no fish. This was only my second trip to this area so I thought I’d go a little further down river than I had been before. I left a line in the water with a MM on a jighead and rode the current downstream. Within about 5 minutes, my line started running out and I thought I was hung up but as soon as I grabbed the rod I knew I had a fish. It was a 13" trout. I decided I would try this for a while and what do you know, another trout, 14". Within 15 minutes I caught 3 trout all in the 12 - 14" range. All together I caught 7 trout and 1 red, all of them trolling except one on a Carolina rig. All fish were released so they can get bigger and I can catch them again. All the trout were caught on an outgoing tide and the red was caught on the incoming.

It was a beautiful day and a good day of fishing for me. After a day of being on the water, I always come home feeling truly blessed.

Glad to hear you were out there having a good time today, DF.
