Never quite sure where to post nearshore reports (it’s not inshore fishing, but it’s not exactly offshore either) but here is the Spansih report for Memorial Day. There wasn’t any to be found. Great conditions, didn’t see any in the harbor, none through the jetty’s either but no worries, they’ll show. Went past the second set of cans in the channel, nothing. Went over to troll the Folly beaches almost to the pier and saw some menhaden but no Spanish.Picked up and trolled beaches of Sullivan’s and IOP almost to the Windjammer, no spanish. Saw big schools of menhaden there as well. Beautiful calm conditions, if they were bustin’ we would have seen them. They just weren’t around. I’m blaming the Super Moon.
We caught a nice Spanish in the shipping channel about 5 miles outside the rocks on Sunday with a silver spoon
Cold water. Nearshore everything is backed up right now. Take normal fishing times, add 1.5 weeks.
