No Work Mondays

I had a day of vacation to watch my son before going back to school tomorrow. We went fishing last Monday too and between then an now he had his 9th birthday. Last week we fished in our “home” waters, the Stono. As usual we were able to find some willing reds that are still hungry for small croaker and spot. Went 4 for five with fish from 19 to 25 inches. Very hot day!!

Today we went out and fished the harbor for the first time in a long time. Beautiful day with light winds. The most productive spot was Shutes Folly where we took 3 reds and 4 flounder in various spots. My son caught the first fish today and it was also his first flounder. He casted, hooked and reeled it in all by himself. It was only 10", but the memory was huge! All of the flounder were caught on mud minnows casting to areas of of broken marsh grass with plenty of current. The big fish of the day were a 16" flounder that went in the cooler and a 21" red.

Good stuff with the son. Doesn’t back to school stink:angry:! I almost hate it more now than when I was 9! Happy B-day young hairball and congrats on your first of many flounders I’m sure:smiley:!!
