Just noticed the Exxon on Mathis Ferry has Ethanol free 93 grade!!!
idk if this is the same as jetskis of their time.
y2k did a full performance review of gasses non ethonal and factory tuning…
the verdict was non ethonal 89 was the best performaning pump on the market with factory ecu/timing… on 2 stroke. they actually made more power and better top end and fuel milage… its what the factory ecu is programed for.
But you can only buy $100 worth - then it stops and says “See Attendant”

Fortunately for me that would last me most of the summer, if not all summer, in my puny soda can tinny.

I just filled up there last weekend. When the pump stopped at $100 I had to use a second card to get a little more. So if you have a big boat you might need to bring two cards.

Good news!
Spoke to the owner, Spencer, today (nice guy) and he said they’re getting the Exxon folks in (next week?) to re-program their pumps so we can spend more there! Said his biggest buyers are car owners who see the big difference in MPG with the 93 octane E-free.
He also said he would call me back when its setup, so I’ll report back then.

You dont buy the non e for better mileage you buy it to NOT have fuel issues…
There’s a spot on Chuck Dawley that sells 89 nonethanol - personally I prefer 89 over 93 because it is cheaper and most outboards are designed to run on 87 so 93 seems like a waste to me. Just my opinion though.

Once you make the switch and deal with a tank or two of problems, less if you empty out all of the non-E10 first… E10 is pretty much problem free.
All the boats in my old marina were forced to run E-10 as non E-10 wasn’t sold in the state. I had a 1976 boat with tanks from the 80’s, the E-10 cleaned the tanks, cleaned the lines and the entire system. Gave me problems for a few weeks, then trouble free for 5 years. Didn’t even need to change my filter as everything was clean all the time. 5 years trouble free in a 1976 carbed 318 Chrysler. We all had a few problems from the start - but once we figured out how to make the transition the problems were few and far between.
I am now 1.5 years trouble free - 150 hours or so - in my Merc F115. Running nothing but E-10, without any filter other than the little inline screen provided by merc.
If you run your boat often and keep the fuel fresh E-10 is just fine. If you use the boat every other month - keep the tanks near empty and treat with Star Tron.
Seen too many boats with problems. Less power, stranded on the water, have to throw away a lot of gas (or polish it), damage to lines, damage to fuel pump valves, have to throw away all Boston Whaler fiberglass tanks, have to empty fuel-water separator a lot.
I’ll pass … E free for me. Ethanol is a total waste of tax-payers time and hard earned money.
