With the favorable seas and forecast I grabbed a boat buddy and headed to Comache. Got a bunch of shrimp and mullet on the way, and got there at approximately 8;30. Dropped our lines in and started catching immediately. We drifted with chicken rigs and some areas were better than others, so we would just keep circling back. Collectively we got limits of Vermilion, a couple sharks, a trigger, a few red snapper, a cobia, a remora, several bass, and a bunch of other smaller fish. Didn’t spend too much time with the camera, but here are a few shots.
Nice job. Congrats on the 1st trip

Thanks cbeck…Florida, to be honest, I didn’t get the cobra in the boat. My son caught him and the rod broke (I took a couple cheap catfish rods). He got him to the boat and with half the rod on the line the fish was hard to get to the surface. I hesitated to net him as I initially thought it was a shark. When I realized it wasn’t, I grabbed the net, the fish did the herky jerky, and straightened the hook. I count that as a catch for my son since my ignorance in identifying it quickly is why it was lost. It was around 30-36 inches. I know…what the hell kind of person takes cheap catfish rods out there. Won’t happen again.

We fished near you guys.
We landed a nice cobia, and had his buddy along side while he was hooked. Didn’t have a pitch bait ready to entice him.
