North Edisto River - Help

Hello you fine folks! Ive been having trouble this season on hooking up with anything, unfortunately.

I live up Leadenwah Creek, so obviously I mostly fish in the North Edisto and other off-chutes.

I was hoping you guys might be able to lend a hand on some spots that might get the itch coming back (preferably around the North Edisto.) Also, I am an avid fly figherman so any local flats would be much appreciated. I am using google earth to look for some flats but any local help would be awesome.

Thanks in advanced.

I’m not familiar with this area but just looking at google maps of the creek, it has some great bends with docks on them. I’d fish each one falling low tide with a Carolina rig with eather cut mullet or shrimp. Should catchem up. Let me know if you do. For flats you just need to go to a flat and find out if they are there. I usually look for a place that has multiple feeder creeks leading to the flat.

32’ 39’ 2’ N 80’ 12’ 19’ looks like a good possible flat.

Thank for the response Epres. Would fish the outside bend of the creek in those locations? Also do you see any difference in a mud flat versus a hard bottom walkable flat? Do you generally see them tailing on one over the other? Thanks again for the information. Ill def be posting pictures if I get into them.

Yes, outside bends only.
Flats- mud flats don’t produce tailers b/c the fiddlers don’t live there. Plus you can’t wade them.
2 types of grass short and tall. Look for short grass (usually found close to dry land or back of flat). Short grass
Grows on sandy packed soil. You can walk this plus the fiddlers live here. Tall grass grows in mud and can’t walk this well…plus it is harder for reds to navigate.
look for places with short grass, fiddler crabs when flat is exposed, and a flat fed by multiple creeks (entry ways for reds).

After you find this then you just go out there and stand around like an idiot until you see some.

Ps. When you get good at picking flats, find a few that are protected in different wind directions.
