North Edisto Shark Tips

I’m looking to do some bonnethead fishing, perhaps bigger sharks, around the N. Edisto area this weekend. I’ve never been to the area, but have a friend that has a place near there.

I’m in a 19 foot DLV Carolina Skiff, so I will be staying in the inlet or some possible nearshore reefs.

If there are any tips or links to previous threads on the area it would be greatly appreciated.

Never had em. Assume kinda like beef tips but more fishy?

It ain’t no mystery…this beer’s history!

Coming from ocean try the left hand bank from the mouth of South creek where the grass is to the sunk shrimp boats for bonnetheads. Half blue crab, fresh shrimp or shrimp and fiddler combo are good baits. Big sharks at Edisto Nearshore reef, cut bait or live bait.

You can’t catch fish on a dry line

Go up Bohicket Creek to where the charter boats clean their fish. Ask for a carcass and put it on a 10/0 circle hook with wire leader. Put that rig on a TLD 15 or 30/heavy rod and drop it near the docks where the fish carcasses are being tossed in the water.
