not a fishing report...

but definitely kayak related. took my wife out on the community kayaks for the first time yesterday. salt water marsh. came around a section of marshgrass and there is a 7 ft aligator. i think i have seen him in the lake behind my house as well. he immediately goes under and i am debating whether to tell my wife. she is already frustrated bc her shoulders hurt and being super athlete is pissed at her self, me or the kayak. anyway, i decide not to tell her. but then he pops back up and she sees him. pissed, scared, among other emotions. fortunately he is swimming away and trying to avoid us but she keeps me between the gator and herself. needless to say the trip back was tense and quiet. wish id had my camera. aw ater level 10 yd pic would have been cool. so we did NOT swim at the dock when we got back as planned.

My wife and I just got our kayaks. I have seen gators a little bit around the Beaufort area, and I know enough to keep my distance. I am wondering how she will react when she sees one and realizes there is only a little plastic between her and it.

When the hair stands up on the back of my neck… I tell myself: there has never been a gator attack in SC resulting in death (in recent times),statistically its more dangerous driving home from work than paddling with them. Ones that have been attacked usually are doing something stupid like dangling a piece of bait in there hand or screwing with the gator.
A 7 ft. gator is a puppy… wait till you see a 12 footer:)

And if you do get eaten by a gator… You’ll make it on CNN and be famous for a day!

sweet…

they seem to get about that long and then they start to thicken more than lengthen. he was a tweener in that regard. his head was widening out. he could have definitely done damage. but he wanted less to do w us than we did w him.

not planning on going out as an aligator fatality i assure you.:sunglasses:
