Not a Striper but a fish Question

What do y’all think? Are theses fish the same fish I’ve posted pics of these fish in the freshwater forum in the past I thought I would ask here. P.S. not as many A-holes on here. LOL… First one caught in April 2010. Second one caught July 2012. Just downloaded a pic of the first for my buddy yesterday and it had me wondering. I think it is the same fish hope to get another pic of her when she is Full…:sunglasses:

Nice fish either way Bill!

You should think about finding yourself some fish tags and tag your fish in that pond and weigh them before releasing. You could find out some interesting data on how fast they are growing etc… as you recatch them.

SouthernBred,

Awesome fish! Here’s a simple technique fish biologist use to ID fish. Next time you catch her - use a pair of scissors to clip either the left or right pectoral fin - but not both. The pectoral is the thin one her side behind the gill plate (on the second picture below - the pectoral shows up green against her white side). No real blood supply to the fin - so no harm done to fish. Sort of like cutting your hair. The fin is very soft and easy to cut with scissors.

Clip ONE fin off about mid way between the stump and the tip. The fin will quickly grow back CROOKED with a DOWNWARD BEND similar shape to a boomerang. Very easy to spot when you catch her again.

The fin is only used for limited movement by a bass - so clipping one in half doesn’t harm her.

Don’t clip the fins on her belly below the pectoral fins. These belly fins have stiffer spines with blood supply.

I wouldn’t mind being introduced to her . Let’s say around the full moon in March when her belly should be sagging with eggs  I’ll bring the scissors!
