Hey I thought I was the only guy in the mtns of NC that was on a salt water site in Charleston I have a salt water flats boat I take down when ever I can.Not much on lake fishing do my share of mtn trout fishing though. Im from chas, but now I work for the NCFS aviation here in asheville.
I too live in Asheville. I’m going down to Chas to fish on 4/13. We should hook up and maybe we can go down together sometime. My dad lives in Moncks Corner so I always have a place to stay.

Well I’m not a NC boy but I am a N. Georgia fella. I have to look at this board to get my fix of saltwater fishing. If you guys ever want to wet a line up in NC give a holler.
Cheers,
Chris B.
It would be nice to get together to fish sometime. You guys ever float for smallies? That’s what I want to do more of this year.
Mike
Nah…we got something even better than smallies down here in GA. We got shoal bass. If you have never gone after shoal bass you should give it a try…they are 100% fun on a fly rod. Course smallies are a heck of a lot of fun as well.
Chris B.
How far are you from Asheville?
I’d say about 2.5-3 hours depending on traffic up through Hendersonville NC. If you want we should try and meet up and fish. I wouldn’t mind hitting some of the rivers around Asheville for smallies…(have my pontoon, will travel). Also there’s another spot I have been wanting to hit near Lake Jocassee for some wild trout.
Cheers,
Chris B.
No not the only one. I 've got the flats boat up here and take it with me when I get down to the salt. I took a few hrs Wednesday and caught a good mix of brooks, browns and bows. Working hard this weekend so I can take Monday off and go try the Tuck. I’m game if y’all get together to wave the wands up here.
Your women, the little girl, your daughters. Sell me your children.

Do any of you guys ever fish any of the tribs into lake Jocassee? There is one in particular that I have been really meaning to go and fish. From what I hear now through late May is the time to hit these streams/rivers.
I’m going to hit some serious brookie water tomorrow (seasonal streams in GA open tomorrow) and then probably hit the 'tooga on Sunday (probably up above Ellicot Rock). If you like fishing the 'tooga you better get it early this year b/c I think it is going to shut down early unless we start to get some rain.

I used to live in Greenville and fished the Whitewater River pretty regularly. It is a nice stream and gets little traffic. I never fished the Thompson because it’s quite a hike to get to and with young children I’m always on a schedule. It’s sure beautiful up in there!
I went out to the Laurel yesterday evening and caught a mess of rainbows.
I’m ready for the bass to get going. I wanted to bass fish yesterday but I think the couple of days of cold might put them down again. Hopefully the warm weather will stay this time.
Good luck on the Tuck. I’ve seen some nice fish coming out of there this year.
