I also caught one in yellowhouse by accident. Half asleep in the boat with a mullet on a bobber fishin for reds, and ended up with a 24 in striper. Very suprising, and pure luck, i assure you.
Everyone I caught was in 8-15 feet of water.The big bucktail white with a trace or pink in the hair was the best.Dont have any but have the Bill Uppermans style white only 1/2 oz Bucktail.That and the Eel(Felmlee 11") rig I have should do it.
I used to live in Wilmington,NC for a couple of years and guys would go striper fishing in the River there esp. in the spring if I remember right some used bucktails.
