Not for sale

Maybe some folks will remember mr goldfinch at election time. Looks like the vocal minority, full of environmental zealots has spoken.

Nice article. He sounds like one of those people who spend their Christmas bonus only to find out the company cancelled it.

How do you have this mindset when you just did a pole with 30 saying No and only 8 saying yes. I wonder if there are truly 60% in Mr. Goldfinches district that approves offshore drilling as he stated?

http://old.charlestonfishing.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=174707

Goldfinch embarrassed himself with his mindset when he testified in Washington and again when he spoke to the ad hoc Committee on Offshore Drilling. His testimony to that committee was given after dozens of his constituents and many elected officials — including the mayors of Charleston, Beaufort and Folly Beach, several city and county councilmen and retired Sen. Bill Doar — had all spoken in opposition before him. Not one of Goldfinch’s constituents spoke in favor.

Once again, his “silent majority” was strangely absent at a critical time to speak out.

In his testimony to the ad hoc committee, Sen. Goldfinch spoke of his well-respected family’s long history in our area and then pontificated “I am the coast.”</font id=“size3”></font id=“red”>

No, sir, we are the coast. And the coast has spoken numerous times — loud and clear and unanimously: “Our coast is not for sale.”

Didn’t know you were an environmental zealot, Fred. Must be deeeeeeep under cover?

I think that it is extraordinarily ****ty to ask for our opinion only to dismiss it out of hand as extremist if it doesn’t line up with some preconceived notion.

Tweety is always in the news

Do I strike you as a person that does not care about my environment? I sure hope not!! I love Earth and the Nature she supports. Don’t get the deep cover? Sure I don’t agree with many EPA mandates, because I know they are bunk. I’m no zealot, but I have sent some money to a few organizations for environmental protection. I’m actually more into the destruction of our Rainforests than anything else at present. So hard to distinguish legit areas to send money to.

My dislike of Drilling offshore was cemented from the BP oil spill. I love our Coast! I’m just as happy to just ride our waterways taking in the beauty rather than fishing them. I don’t want to see more growth on our coast or drilling off shore.

With you 100%

Under cover was a joke that if you are an green peace nut job as the senator suggests that you hide it well.

The guy who wrote that letter is my new hero.

“mr keys”

Two observations…

  1. I may not necessarily agree with Goldfinch on the natural gas stuff, but he is PRO-fishing. There aren’t many people around willing to push\sponsor things on behalf of fishermen, so you might want to be careful what you ask for.

  2. I could be wrong, but I believe that poly ball is a long term democrat, so be careful who you take your advice from.

Not giving any advice brah, but keep defending your shady pal…BTW, the coast isn’t for sale.

“I never tell clients I’m a legislator because politicians are hated,” Goldfinch said.

Did I say something that was not factual in nature? If so, this is a good opportunity for you to correct me.

Skinny, on #1 you have me confused on your observations. What is it that we should be careful for asking for… no offshore drilling, which you are against. So are you saying we should support Goldfinch in his push for off shore drilling?

2… Good gracious… Polly is incorrigible! While I don’t take advice from him, I do like to listen to some of his rants. While Polly and I don’t agree on a lot of things I believe he does have our environment at heart. Politically we are north and south, environmentally we are peas and carrots. … if you leave out climate change. Wait… I like some forms of dog hunting and he abhors all forms. Variety is the spice of life.

All the above stated, what are you getting at Skinny?

Fred, do you think I would warn myself against my own desires on a public internet forum?

You have always been a pretty smart dude. No I don’t.

You’ve been quiet for a bit. Love ya man! Mean it!

I know I’m a brash poster, but so are you .

Hope you had a great Christmas, and a most wonderful New Year!!

Fair enough. Love you too man!

To clarify my post. It looks like a few people on this forum are hopping on some kind of anti-Goldfinch bandwagon over this article about nat gas. While I don’t necessarily agree with his views on nat gas, I most certainly support him overall. He is probably one of the most pro-hunting and fishing senators in the state. That’s a huge bonus in my book.

Meanwhile poly ball is personal friends with the writer of this article. We know that Poly always has an agenda. Typically, we don’t agree with it, so why trust him (Poly) now? Deep down, I don’t think poly ball is a bad person. I just think we have drastically different political views. I’m okay with that.

Now I understand. I didn’t mean to get on an anti Goldfinch rant, I know nothing about the man, it just seemed pretty odd that he stated 60% of his voter base were for Offshore drilling. Glad to hear He is pro hunting / fishing. We need more in congress like that.

Skinny is a liar. I don’t know the dude who wrote the article, wouldn’t know him if he walked up my driveway.

Sounds more like typical skinny, or the wizard of oz.

Some of Goldfinches accomplishments. I really don’t have a good feeling about this cat representing my district.

A freshman South Carolina state lawmaker said Wednesday plans to plead guilty to federal charges over the mislabeling of stem cells by a business he once owned.

Treasure hunting?

http://coastalobserver.com/articles/2014/010214/1.html

I reckon skinny thinks I’m friends with this cat too…

On Nov. 28, I was given the chance to speak to the South Carolina House Ad-Hoc Committee on Offshore Drilling, along with other citizens, several local elected officials and Sen. Stephen Goldfinch. All expressed their opposition to seismic testing and offshore drilling in the Atlantic, except Sen. Goldfinch who took a position favoring offshore seismic testing. Since he represents the same citizens as the other elected officials I wondered why he was taking an opposite position from theirs. I chatted with him last week on Facebook and I asked him why.

Sen. Goldfinch answered in part as follows:

“Ed, your strategy was clever. No doubt, but your methods were weak. Your organization used the same resolution language throughout every city and it’s the same language that was used in other states. It’s clear this is a national fundraising campaign and nothing more. It’s sad you’ve bought into such a fraud.”

Wow! I had no idea that every local elected official on the coast of South Carolina could be duped and defrauded into signing resolutions opposing offshore seismic testing and drilling in the Atlantic by some “national fundraising campaign.”

If any of you are reading this and feel that Sen. Goldfinch has sullied your reputations as thinking, caring representatives of the citizens of South Carolina I suggest you write or email him and let him know.

I think the senator is out of touch.
