loaded up the boat, fishing aboard ada bean(236 SAILFISH). took 2 newbes, one calling at the prearranged 3am departure time he was headed our way( linconville on diff time zone) not good! 1 hr later, we headed for the landing. launched the boat and started taking spray over the bow at the bridge, not good. only 2’ 10 mph wind all day was when we went behind ft sumter. took a good beating for 3 hrs.not good! lines in just inside the outcrop at 8:15, late! trolled out to 280’ with little action, temp 77.7 +/- 1/2deg. lots of bait and broken weed lines. put a 25lb cow in the box #2 newbe did good but the fish came to the boat like a cuda! no fight even after we gaffed it.caught two more heading south to help the ride home but took spray over the bow for the next few hrs, not good. had the daymaker on at 1pm in 130’. 45lb.+ bull crashed two flat lines then hit the out rigger dink, set the hook, handed #1 newbe the rod as the fish put on a good air show, before we could pull all the lines he cut across the spread and made a mess and the 50lb. mono cut above the bimini knot, not good! fished till 3 then headed in at 15/20, wet as hell and beat up. newbe #1 made up for being late as he was on the spot all day rigging baits (after a little schooling the night before)clearing lines, fast learner.we are holding a class on setting alarms next. weater forcast was way off, thats the way it goes sometimes, had to pay for all the great trips we have had this year, time for me to break out bottom gear.
