Not much luck lately

I haven’t had much luck the last couple trips out. In fact been skunked the last three. Anyone experiencing the same or should I sell the boat and find a new hobby haha.

I took my new kayak out on the Wando for 6 hours today and didn’t catch a thing if it makes you feel any better. But I also have no idea what I’m doing. Talked to one other guy who said he had been getting skunked as well.

Hahaha sadly it does give me some relief I’m not the only one.

The first rule of fight club…

Try getting bit over and over and not being able to get a hook into a sheepshead…

Try try again.

Fished DI side of lower Wando for about 6 hours yesterday. I wanted to try a new spot that I have been scouting on online maps. Nothing from the new spot by casting to cover areas, but picked up five trout in the 10" to 14" size class trolling the flats out to and back from my target spot in my kayak. Root Beer with Chartreuse tail paddle tail got all of them…

Good rule of thumb I learned bass fishing in my younger days, when the water temp is 55 degrees and above I could / can catch bass and redfish on a spinnerbait with a semi slow retrieve. Water temp below that meant slowing the baits down and bouncing the bottom during the retrieve. A.D.D. makes it hard for us saltwater license holders to do such a thing but it has to be done in order to catch em. Water gets below 50 and you better start counting to 10 Mississippi before trying to set the hook. Slow retrieve equals success!!!

That’s funny only because I’ve had some bad luck too and even posted about it. I’m going to try again tomorrow though.

B.O.A.T. Bust Out Another Thousand!

Since our baby came in Mid October fishing has been limited, but had good success in mid-late November but December has been a bust. I can’t catch a cold in bad winds.

I’m actually heading out there in the Yak on Sunday. It has been a couple of months since i hit up that area. How was the water clarity?
Aside from my usual spots out there, I’m thinking about trying a few of those creeks nearby

I’ve also been struggling. Same tides, spots and techniques as last year with very little success in comparison. Last year, for me, December was a great month for trout and redfish, but not this year. I’ve also noticed the water has been very muddy from the rain. I remember this time last year seeing down 5-7 feet in the wando and behind IOP. Seasons/Air Temp/Water temp seem to be a a few weeks behind this year so I’m thinking January should be better. It’s frustrating, but hey that’s fishing. I’ll be back at it again as soon as I can get out.

was out on Monday morning early(Wando)…been slow for me last couple time out in areas that have been producing good fish…but water is getting colder so… SplitTail is right…caught two Trout on Monday on a slooow bounce…Pearl White DOA…unfortunately the times I could go tide was coming in…I would think that when flow is coming out of these creeks that water might be a tad warmer and trigger something??

With all the rain & flooding running down to the inlets I am sure it has diluted the salt & is playing a big part with the fishing. Wonder if they would be holding up in areas closer to the mouth of the ocean where the salt levels would be closer to normal?

interesting point areeldrag…thank you…just getting use to the fishing here and need all the info/tips I can get

IT’S THE REASON ITS CALLED FISHING AND NOT CATCHING… IF IT WAS ALL CATCHING , SOON THERE WOULD BE NOTHING LEFT TO FISH FOR !!:imp::imp:

Been very slow fishing the rivers for me as well. Almost next to nothing. Headed out to the near shore reef the past couple weeks and found a whole different world. Many nice size Weak fish, several slot Reds and bulls, and of course more than you can count BSB. A few really nice size Black drum. But not one Sheepshead. Going out again tomorrow but trying to decide if I should try the rivers again or try to make it out to the reef again seas permitting
