When I woke up yesterday, the boat was covered in a heavy sheet of Ice. All of the hatches were frozen shut. Luckily I pre loaded the boat the day before. We hit the road to remelys and my boat was in the water by 6am. There were two more trailers in the parking lot so I knew we were not the only Crazy guys out there. COLD does not describe the temp as we left the harbor. The water was bumpy from the start with a mix of probably 2-3 ft sloppy mess. We pulled up to black banks and everything we caught was on the small side. About mid day we left and headed north 20 miles and we finally started to catch some monster bsb. We caught the usual vermillion and a mix of bait fish. I was surprised that we didn’t catch any porgys or grunts like my last trip. We stopped fishing around 6 pm and headed back in . Water was like glass and made the freezing ride back in a little better. We did see about 5 sea turtles which was odd. One came about 25 ft from the boat and went back down . All in all it was a good trip, no injuries , no mechanical failures , the weather was nice , and put some fish in the freezer.
P.S. We we had a drone following us through out the day. I didn’t think to try and get a pic, my cell phone probably wouldn’t have focused right to take one. But they are out there…
I don’t know how we missed each other because I didn’t pull up to Remleys til 5:45 and took a minute to get everything going. Did you see a boat glowing blue? If so it was us. We didn’t leave from under the bridge til about 6:15-6:30. Good job on the bsb! We’ll buddy up soon!
Haha skinne…No I couldn’t hear it. It was bright white and black…I could have sworn it was a bird until it stopped in mid air and just sat there. It was probably 60 to 80ft high, I think…It wasn’t sailing around in a circle motion like a bird would be doing. After I realized it was there and watched it for a few minutes , it left…Several hours later we left that spot , moved 20 miles and anchored out. I was looking around again and there it was. Same altitude, same strange movment-forward,backward-side to side action, then it left…
