Nov 3 Upper Ashley

Looked at the wx report for tomorrow and weekend, then looked out the window and made a quick decision: I’m outta here!

Hit the Jessen landing and cruised down the Ashley for a ways. I’ve never fished this area, just cruised with the family. Water was coffee, basically. MAYBE 12" vis.

Used some gulp and hit some likely areas. Hooked a rat red before too long and had a quick release boatside. Pulled a 2nd one from the same spot and he wrapped me around a stump and lost him.

Kept a-going and hooked into a nice 21"er. Completed dinner by pulling a nice 20"er off a dock.

Fun way to spend a few hours…

sorry about that haha. PM incoming.

Hey Dave,
You’ll keep finding reds up our way since the water has cooled down. You might even catch a striper or two.

Good report. LOTS of reds and flounder up that way if you know where to fish. When I need a quick fix the ashley is always a good place to bend a rod. I have whacked the trout behind Kings Grant several times too. You can catch reds up there year round. I grew up with the upper ashley in my back yard, every time I fish the river I get flooded with awesome memories of my childhood. Awesome stuff!

toobusy is right on about the stripers though, caught a few this fall already but nothing big

Thanks guys, I will definitely make more of an attempt to learn this area. Its just so convenient! I am jealous of some of those places behind Kings Grant, man there are some elaborate docks
