O'Baby 11/15

The Godbout clan (Me, my brother JR, and son Mikey) took over the O’Baby on Sunday. We kidnapped Mike O, and made him go fishing. Things have changed drasticly in a week, due to the storm. Our first stop, was a ledge in 90’, that last week was swarming with grouper, today it held no fish, and the divers on Under Contract, said vis was only 10’. I wanted some more triggers, so we went to a piece of bottom close by, and started loading up. we caught a box of big dinner plates and plenty of big BSB’s. Someone needs to call the “scientists” from the SAFMC, and tell them we found the nearly extinct B-liners. It was a lot of fun hand feeding the donkeys with all the released vermillions…good going SAFMC! We lost a buttload of gear yesterday due to hangups, and the trim tabs. Looks like I will be tying rigs this week, here are some pics.

Hey a book i have says the ocean triggers are more course and the meat is much darkers than grays and queens! Do you have any input on that!? by the way I saw the article in the tideline… thanks for sharing the tips!

the meat from grays and queens looks identical, have only caught a handfull of oceanics.

I used to hate trying to get meat off these crooked toothed shark chokers, but I have a technique down now. I think I read where sells said to use a shorter bladed knife. That’s the ticket for sure.

I like a little raw with wasabi and soy as well as seared in teriyaki and sesame. Pro tip: the little ones work better for that because of the texture of the meat.

How long before triggerfish catching is banned I wonder?

triggers are my wifes favorite. I’d take a freezer full of those suckers if they weren’t so hard to clean. Paul, next time I am going to take you up on your offer to assist in the cleaning. Do you happen to have a youtube video showing how to clean triggers?

Nice job Mike and Paul. Mike, glad to see the hand recovery!

ProTip: Bring a case of beer and listen to what the man has to say. He knows his chit!

If you can’t fix it with a hammer, you’ve got an electrical problem.

That is a PRO-TIP.
