OBD Codes.........Advice/Input Needed

Replacing the MAF sensor is definitely easier. I took it out (MAF sensor), cleaned it and reinstalled it so I know it is plugged in all the way. They did not say which codes were current vs history. I had not thought of a vacuum leak. The whole thing is pissing me off. I am a competent enough mechanic that I can fix something IF I know for sure what the problem is. It is the diagnosing/finding the actual problem that is aggravating.

Easiest way to find a vacum leak is to start the engine, let it idle, then spray all vacum hoses 1 at a time with wd40,the sound/humm will change while doing this procedure.
My grandfather taught me that trick about 35 years ago,and I still use it.

Double D.

Dang, so simple it’s brilliant. I will do that as soon as I get home.

My wife’s 4 runner was getting similar codes and the fix was a new gas cap.

Gas cap codes are typically P0440 large evap leak ,P0442 small evap leak or a P0455 evap system. I understand DF, it’s never quite as easy as just plugging it into the computer and it tells you what is wrong.

if you’re in Columbia call a to z- Kevin runs a great ,trustworthy shop.

If I can’t get it figured out myself, I may give him a try. Could not find a vacuum leak yesterday so its on to the next step.
