Running offshore on the Bi Op Sea Friday, weather willing. We have toyed with the idea of pulling CC up to Oregon Inlet for a few days this spring/summer. I’ll have a better idea on the water once we get up there this week but was wondering if there were any professional opinions on running the inlet in something other than a 40-60ft sporty.
Best ramp is next to the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. Get there early on a nice day because it is crowded. Put your boat in the water and wait for a charter to leave the fishing center. Follow right off his stern as he navigates the inlet. The channel from the fishing center to the bridge is an adhoc channel with some jugs out and reflective tape on them. A spotlight is worth having to tag the tape on the jugs. Just don’t wash out the Capt in front of you. All the Capts there will talk in loran. Make sure you have loran lines on your chart.
They recently dredged the main channel and it will take a draft of 5Ft.
Much appreciated guys. Thanks.
Do not tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don’t tell them where they know the fish.

Dare Haven Motel in Manteo or rent a house for a week. Parking a boat and trailer can be a challenge on OBX when not fishing. Now for yellow fin tuna and dolphin, sept for white marlin and march for blue fin tuna

If you head to Hatteras try a little family motel in Buxton called the Croatan Inn. Good prices. Nothing fancy. Have a fish cleaning station there too. It’s right across the street from what I consider the best tackle shop on the East coast… Red Drum Tackle.
If you take your boat stay away from e-ne winds as the inlet will get nasty on an outgoing tide.

Excellent information. Thank you!
