I am up for it is it still water or running water now sure about that area or that body of water? Also why wouldnt they take a fly and what were you using? Sounds nice I will be back in town next week going to South Dakota and Wyoming for a week. Drop me a email and let me know.
as far as the fly goes.i was using one a friend suggested.caught 1.meanwhile they were hitting spinners and corn about as fast as i could get it in the right spot.the water there was moving,i wouldnt say fast moving as some other areas i checked out while i was there.it is definately worth the trip for the scenery alone.guy i talked to for some time said most fish spinning in the area where i was fishing.he never said why.i didnt venture into the middle of the stream i was fishing because i was alone, and had doubts about the felt bottoms i had just bought from dicks for my hodgemans.the spinner i was using was a oldschool mepps yellow with black dots.i think they thought it was corn.guy said they feed the trout some kind of cornmeal type food before they stock em.all i can say is it was a blast and im goin again soon.is there a fly out there that looks like a piece of corn?

in that area you can keep 8 if im not mistaken.there are areas nearby where you can keep 10.depends on which stream you are fishin.i have an ultra-“secret-squirrel” map a friend gave me.just be ready to catch lots of fish that size.the few i saw fishin during the day were keeping fish that size, and when i asked they said they were legal.i threw all i caught back.the brown i caught was native im pretty sure.he was around 13 inches.guy there fishin said it was sizeable for that area.my thing is catchin em on 4lb test 30 yds down stream in decent current.priceless.i want to get better with the fly rod.this is my goal in life.i will be goin again real soon.ill email you stretch.my bad…about 3.5 hours haulin azz.

Jeremy, Chatooga River is NW border between SC/GA. I’ve fished a good bit above the bridge to the hatchery but never downstream. I’m up for a daytrip if one is in the making.
willy, corn will kill a trout because they can’t figest it. Might want to stick to arties if you are releasing them. They do make some orange fuzzies that look like salmon eggs. I’m going to make a super-secret brown fuzzy that will look just like Purina fish food. Then I’ll show you some fish!!!

the delayed harvest sections will be open soon and the river will have lots o trout. ever fished a y2k (yarn 2 knots) fly. its two dis colors of egg yarn tied on a no 14 w/ a gold bead. the overall shape is cut like a caddis wing. absolutely deadly on trout.
The tooga was practically in my back yard (I considered it my home waters for a number of years). I must admit I truelly enjoy fishing the tooga during the fall and winter…spring ain’t to bad either.
I’m hoping to head up there on Sat. and fish for browns.
i didnt know this about the corn.everyone i talked to was using corn or had used corn.they said the trout are fed some sort of corn product before being stocked.but, the spinners work plenty well enough for me,ill use them.i wont be getting another flyrod anytime soon.

ive done some reading on this corn thing.there are some that believe the trout are unharmed by whole kernel corn.the state of pennsylvania performed a test on this.20 trout in each of 2 tanks.one tank fed the usual grain made pellets the other whole kernel corn.weeks after the test was completed not 1 trout died.i wont say that this proves anyone wrong, but i might not be making that statement either.study was done by biologists for the pennsylvania fish and boat commission.
