Octane Booster

I hold 150-gallons of fuel. I keep the tank full year round with non-ethanol fuel. I also use use Startron fuel stabilizer at every fill up/every time I use the boat. My max burn from a full day offshore is usually around 65-gallons. 2 to 3 trips offshore per year, a couple of runs to the reefs at 25 to 30 gallons and running around with the wife and kids throughout the year with 10 to 15 gallons. My concern is that I feel like I am always running around with old fuel even though it has stabilizer in it. Back before ethanol I would buy high octane fuel every so often to ensure fuel was fresh and had not lost any octane; but obviously can’t do that anymore. Anyone use octane booster to help keep fuel “fresher?” Any idea as to what manufacturers such as Yamaha think of an additive like booster? I don,t see how it could hurt but not real sure.

I have been able to find high octane no alcohol fuel. Presently I buy from the SONOCO on Rebault road in Beaufort. Before that the Exxon on Boundary street had high octane no alcohol. Good luck!

You got me wondering now, the non-ethanol that I buy is always “premium” perhaps it is high octane. Going to have to check the pump.

all of the non-eth. I see in the up-state is premium.
