off list of things to do fishing

Went out for a few hours yesterday to do some Easter fishing. Water was very stained and it was a little windy but it was such a nice day that I had to get out there. I fished the falling tide and ended up with two slot reds and one keeper trout (released) and one throw back. The best fish was the smallest trout that I got on top water! This was my first trout on top water and it was so exciting that all i threw the rest of the evening was my spook. I was celebrating on the bow casting deck as if the DAWGS had just won a national championship. Also, had a huge red on a scrimp under a cork, but he got the hook out with the help of dock a post. The other fish were caught on z man paddle tails.

Cool, I am still waiting on my first topwater catch. I lost a nice skitterwalk to a barracuda last week in Florida.

My favorite kind of fishing! Congrats on the milestone

Must have been one hungry trout to take a topwater 1/3 his size. Nice!

We do not rise to the occassion…but fall to the level of our training

Good on the topwater jimmy. You’re doomed…in a good way

^^well put.

very nice

Thanks guys. And yep, you are doomed in a good way cause you will probably catch fewer fish but they will be much more exciting. although, I have seen days where top water was on fire and nothing else was. I have been addicted to top water ever since I can remember. Ever since that first large mouth many years ago. I got my first red last year and first trout this year. That little trout absolutely crushed the bait. I am looking forward to catching many more on the top. I think i am going to get my fresh water box out and grab a few miscellaneous top waters out of there. I got a bunch of pop-r s, chug bugs, and torpedos that should work in the salt as well. I am really excited to try the chug bug. I can see the trout going crazy over that thing!I think it will produce both trout and reds.Anyone have any luck on any of those?

Bone color Spook Jr. always works best for me

Chug bugs work great! They are also a good tw plug for kids or those who can’t walk and chew gum and have trouble “walking the dog”
