Off Topic for 23 Sailfish

It was raining like cats and dogs today. I will get some more pictures when the weather clears.

The words “CAUTION ANIMAL” make perfect sense. So, I can only assume the pound sign and stickman gobbledygook above the words “CAUTION ANIMAL” actually mean the same thing.

This was me and my youngest daughter at last years Marine Corps JROTC Birthday Ball.

More to follow for you 23Sailfish. I’ll get some good stuff for you when the weather clears.

Nice pictures, I was there in 98 and 2000, remember taking the tracks up and down that ramp. Doesn’t look much different now. Did they ever fix the 360 degree wash rack?

Semper Fi

Nope. It’s rough over by the tunnel because of construction. But, things like that are on its way to being fixed.

Very nice. My favorite sign was the monkey crossing signs on mainland. I guess I’m used to seeing deer crossing signs and the monkey made me giggle out loud.

Here is another cool picture. I got to meet Trace Adkins last year. He came out on his own dime to see the Marines in Okinawa and put on a show. Heck of a guy.

Isn’t he like 6’ 5"?

You must be a big guy too.

When you come back to Charleston, you have a spot on my boat.

He is a pretty big guy, but not 6’ 5". I’m 6’ 2’, and he was just a hair taller than me. He might have been 6’ 3".

He put on an outdoor concert on Kandena for free for all the US Military personnel. Trace Adkins gets a thumbs up from us! :sunglasses:

Thanks 23Sailfish.

Wow that brings back memories. Spent 3 years of my life there. First time was in 82 with 3rd tracks then in 96 and 2000 with CAB. Did some good fishing with Rick from MWR. Spent many drunken nights walking back from the Hanoko. Tsolice were you with the UDP tracks company? I was the bn maintain chief at CAB…

Nope…I’m with 4th Marines. CAB is just down the street. The yougest daughter is in JROTC with Kubasaki High, and CAB puts on events for JROTC often. So, I get to go down the street on occasions to see her with the JROTC unit and CAB. 4th Marines is now back to full strength with a full compliment of infantry battalions and UDP resumption. Iraq and Afghanistan basically put UDP on hold for roughly 10 years.

Well,

Korea is not much fun, and it is cold; however, it is not as cold as I expected it to be. A couple of weks here and back to Okitraz to get ready to PCS to good ole South Carolina. Can’t talk about the exercise, so don’t ask. And, we are stuck on base and in uniform the entire time. Yeap…not much fun.

Thanks. Still plugging away at it. Although, retirement is on my mind more and more these days. My time after this tour will put me at 25 years. I will be making some big decisions at my next duty station.

Skeeter22, there is life after retirement. I’m not saying you won’t miss it. Just make sure you do all your research so you get what is owed to you. You earned it.
