Offshore 10/10/10

Greetings!

I had a rare full day pass to fish, so off to the GT hole we went.
The bite started off strong in the morning. We had three big hits, fought for a few minutes and then lost our sea-witches. Perhaps large toothy fish?
Then a gaffer mahi, 9 blackfin tuna (we did throw a small football back to fight another fight), one huge peel-off on the county line with new WIRE for a 40#cuda, and finally a 35# wahoo. The meat fish trifecta!

Off to some bottom numbers for a few deep drops resulted in three scamps (one was undersized), one keeper b-liner, one strawberry grouper, two red porgies, and a remora.

It was great to have a whole day to run. Starting in the dark rather than ending in the dark was a nice, productive change! Until next wednesday afternoon…

Tight lines,
Jason

Some of the catch…

Hey, great job and post, will get out this week if the weather holds, I like the looks of those tuna, want to catch my share and a wahoo or two.

Those are joltheads at the bottom of the second pic right?? Congrats on the catch guys how was the ride in/out???

Great day, thanks for the report. I start at dark and end at dark no matter what. Always waiting for that last bite.

Where is the gaffer mahi? Good day though. Cant wait to get back out there, the boat just got back from the shop.

Knobbed porgy, Calamus nodosus.

Thanks for the kind words…

The seas were flat…ran out at 45mph under radar until the skys lightened up, then 52 mph out to the stream. The ride home was 56mph.

The joltheads are porgies, ty sublime.

The dinner this evening was spectacular!

Slightly larger in memories, but did take a gaff to ensure a successful outcome!

Big cuda fake-out…thought it was a giant HOO! Caused a blister on my middle finger that still hurts!

Is that the boy from “Two and a Half Men” holding up the cuda? He is all grown up!

Were all fish caught trolling on the top or were you running some deep?

Nice day!!!
