sounds like fishin widow and lil fish have had problems with honest and integrety with respect to their fishing - I dont have that problem and must have mis interpreted the purpose of this site, I still enjoyed the yellow fin regardless . highly recommend soyvay wasabiyaki for the marinade
yellow fin Bonita!
If you were off the outer banks, I would believe you. But when the entire fleet pulls baits for a whole summer and only a handfull of YFT’s were caught in the spring…
Where were you?? And how big was the fish?? Did you weigh it in for the trident?? There is not one weighed in this year.

Ditto!
Please share some details. All I seen this year were blackfin. Of course, they may have a little yellow on them.

I wasn’t trying to be a SMART A$$… was just a little curious as to how you managed a tuna…and… a yft at that ??? thought maybe you had identified your fish wrong… people do make mistakes when it comes to fish identification …that’s why I ask for a picture …I know the Bonita bite is pretty strong out there right now also I know that catching a tuna this time of year would be pretty rare …so if in fact you did catch a yft …the you have single handily boosted the economy in Charleston area… because every boat in Charleston will be out there trying to get one
Amen fishin-widow… You tell em. Cause if I know they were catching YFT out there right now I can say I would know where you husband and I would be and it wouldnt be here typing on this puter thingy.
“You are the offspring of 5 monkeys having But Secs with a retarded fish squirrel………. CONGRADULATIONS”!!!
some of you guys kill me. is it not possible for a man who knows what is going on to go catch a tuna. not trying to start a war, it is just dissappointing for the first response to be questioning whether or not the person knows enough to identify a yft… come on… how tough is that? I know that Tred Barta’s is called the Makaira… could this be him???
“If it’s saltwater, I’m in!”
If it was Tred, it would have been a Bigeye!

on 20 lb test!
if anyone gets bored and wants to catch some decent size tuna let me know cause they are everywhere here in the gulf. both yellow and blackfin. little bit of a drive but well worth it. we took an overnight trip this past weekend to a large floating oil rig about 100 mi out called boom vang and did pretty well. caught about 6 blackfin and landed three yellowfin. hooked 2 nice sails one released and the other tag and released it self. fishing right now is nuts off texas but all the floating debris makes things very scary when driving at night.
From reds to marlin you got it.

When can we go?
Freshwater is for drinking.
I just got a report from a GOOD source of tuna in the 40 to 60 lbs class on the 10 fathom line just south of Hilton Head. The boat was running north back to Harbour town and was not fishing, but the fish were skying and feeding all around the boat when they saw them. Maybe small bluefin or yellowfin, but not blackfin!
