man was it tough out there yesterday, trolled great rips, weed lines and large weed mats and only had 1 bite all day, 1 small dolphin. We saw fish under the grass in numerous places and couldn’t get them to bite.
Radio chatter told the tale- no one reported more than a couple and most reported zero.
Fished Edisto banks, 226 hole and out deep- bait everywhere, grass everywhere, and no action anywhere. We even stayed late to see if the bite would turn on later. Long day.
Did see a pod of whales at the 226 hole- highlight of the day.
No dolphin, whales, tons of leatherbacks spotted, best blue marlin tournament ever here. And we aren’t even through May yet. That’s environmental folks. Let’s hope this is only temporary, or let’s hope the cycle is almost complete so we get our yellowfins back next year.
sounds very similar to our out deep experience monday in same area, then we found that warm finger moving S in 600’ with nicer weeds up a little to the N and it seemed to be totally different, with happier fish and better size. i dont know but i feel your pain, at least we scratched out 9 fish.
Had about the same experience. Ended day with 2 slingers and 1 20 pounder. Pulled lines in at 2 and started bottom fishing. 1 gag and 1 scamp saved the day. Lots of b-liners and porgies.
