Offshore 5/28

Had a rough start yesterday. Was able to manage about 20-22 knots on the way out. Ran a 130 heading and fished in the mid 300s from 130-190ft. in 76 degree water. Caugth 16 dolphin keeping 10 and also caught a 50lb wahoo. The majority of the fish were caught on a charteuse and pink squitch, bleeding dolhpin squitch. Green/yellow,blue/white,and rainbow palemetto chug. The lure that I couldnt keep in the water was the Charleston green squitch. All in all it was a good day. Pulles up lines at about 1pm. The last 5 miles before the jetties were a lot of fun. It was consistant 4-6 footers. Oh well it beats work.

Congrats on your day!

It still amazes me how many blind fish are out there, since they will eat a LEHI squitch:smiley:

Glad you guys did good. Sorry we cheezed on you. When I looked at the GPS and saw we were less than 20 miles out from the rocks after nearly two hours of a beating, my crew was looking a little mutinous, and I was burning fuel like no tomorrow, I decided to bag it. There will be better days for us. You are right, even at 9AM the last five miles coming back was worse than going out. Maybe I need those trim tabs! You blew by me pretty good in the rough stuff.

Congrats on a good day, as far as needing the trim tabs… Would not leave inshore with out them. The nose of the boat stays way too far up making for a hard landing off every wave… But there is no need to tell you as you have experienced it first hand. Good luck in the future…
