departed Murrells around 0630 enroute to some live bottom in 80’.
ocean wasnt bad 2-3’ with a ENE wind around 10kts. Had onboard a spry youngster whose last time on the saltwater was when he was 21 and headed back from the south pacific on a troop transport after WW II and some close friends/relatives
when we hit 60’ all signs pointed to, screw 80’, start now. while deploying 2nd rod, 1st goes off…cuda, g/r cuda, get original 2nd rod out, AJ…clear that, get one line back out, goes off gaffer dolphin…
actual manage to get 3 lines out…this guy shows up
about a 10 minute battle and the sail is alongside…
after the sail, we manage to get 6 lines deployed before the 2nd sailfish wreaks havoc on the spread. Stripped one rig, then proceeded to another, i got to the rod to feel him for a sec, unbuttons, i dump back, picks it up again, got a beautiful 5 second fight that time:face_with_head_bandage: after that i said, no more than 4…i hate when fishing interrupts deploying a spread
picked up another AJ, Cudas, another good run with an unknown assailant…about 10:30 XM wx shows the T-storms started building to the north and the wind freshened a little so we decided to head in close to shore for some mercury missle fishing, one ripped the bait off in the wash after an hour…that was enough, back in calm water by 1:00.
