So I’m very new to the offshore thing and looking for some advice. What’s the best way to find live bottom? Don’t want to poach anyone’s numbers or anything just don’t really know. Lots of very flat ground out there from what I’ve seen. Mostly looking for 75 to 135ft of water. Also what should I be looking for in trolling areas? When I fished back home in New England we just looked for temp breaks. I appreciate everyone’s help so far.

lots of time looking at the screen [:0] some charts give info on type of bottoms , get gps #s for some of the nearshore arti reefs and spend some time observing appearance of what the structure looks like , not many will be willing to give #s… near reefs are your best bet:sunglasses:
Buy a map card with detailed cartography. Watch the bottom contours where there is a sudden drop or rise. Troll over the area and watch your sounder for anything that looks out of place. Most of the time the coral and sponges just look like static on the bottom.
If you visit a reef with a long bottom contour near it, there’s a good chance the reef was placed there for a reason.
This time of year we don’t get much luck at the public numbers. Searching around is worth the work.
