Sorry for the late report but i have been constantly on the go now for a solid week. For my 18th birthday trip me and dad went way SOUTH to fish with my good friend, Bouncer on “Bouncer’s Dusky” for two days outa Miami.
12/15- left at 10 to go sailfishing and then tarpon fishing that night. Caught bait and waited till 2:30 or so before the fish turned on. Between then and dark went 5 for 6 on the sails. Picked up at dark, ran into tarpon fish and released a rat at about 30lbs or so.
12/16-Left at 7 to go daytime swordfishing. This was a first for me, as i had never done it before at either day or night. Got out to 1600 feet and dropped down 1 bait to 1500 feet and began our drift. At 10am we hooked up, and i went to work as i elected to “hand-crank” the fish as opposed to the modern push button electric deep drop reels. Took a while to come tight on the fish but finally did. I’m gonna go ahead and say these fish fight harder than any other fish i’ve ever caught or seen caught. Worked the fish for 1hr and 40 minutes before we boated her. Fish was nice 10ft 4" overall and weighed 262.9lbs! Great trip, Captain Bouncer is the man.
during the day, they drop to the bottom and then reel up about 20 feet. At night they fish different depths. IDK bout ya’ll but night seems like it’d be a LIL bit easier on the angler!
That Dusky is the boat pictured on Dusky’s website for their flagship model’s photos. I happened to be looking at those pictures last week at the very time you were probably fighting that sword!Looks like a sweet ride.
Lived in Miami for 12 years, fished with Bouncer on several trips very good and knowledgeable Capt., if your ever down there well worth the time and the money to fish with him he does a good trip to the Bahamas!
