Put in at Greys Hill around 6:30am and headed out in search of the spanish in 1-3 head on seas. Nothing! I went out about 25 miles over several reefs and not a single sign of life. So I decided to bottom bumb several offshore numbers and nothing. I came back in to the Near Shore reef (Paris Island) and nothing. It truly was like the dead sea out there for me and my partner boat today. I rarley get totally skunked but today it happened… The fish were just NOT there for me. Talked to a few other fellas and they to seemed to be dealing with the same issue.
Thursday it took from 9 a.m. - 12 a.m. before we got a bite. Never dropped lines down on top of ships and not even get a bite from a ruby lip… I was starting to get a little worried. I couldn’t believe the size of the BSB that were caught…
All in all I lost my new reef anchor, broke my antenna, had more engine fuel problems, and got a hook stuck in my finger. It just was not meant to be. FB where were you tearing up the BSB? Were you using Mullet?
Fished 14 miles off, not sure the exact #'s as they’re in my gps but if you head from y-73 and bear 304 for 17.6 miles from subway cars, you’ll be dead on it…#'s came from a buddy. Average size was 14-15" c-bass at this spot. Caught some throw backs but about 60-70% of what was caught were over 12"…We caught some nice 17-18" bsb at the Y…2 ARS at 16" and 1 at 21"…first ARS in my boat
Well Saturday was not much better. The tournament results I hear were pretty good. I was not fishing in the tourn but 2 friends and I went out to R-7 and trolled for a bit with nothing. We bottom bumped the entire area with nothing but a bunch of 3’ to 5’ sharks. We went to several #'s out around the snapper banks with not much worth talking about there either. Ran back to the Ross and nothing but blacks and pins. After a rough day of fishing it took us about an hour to break the anchor loose. I have always heard East the least and West the best. It has proven to be true and after yesterday and I won’t waste my time again with the East wind. Has anyone else had any luck?
We were out there (R-7)on an eight hour charter on Friday and put some nice king in the boat as well as some b-liners(snapper banks), sea bass, and the charter got rocked up several timess. Of course several sharks.

Went out to the BR Saturday and loaded up with 32 keeper BSB. Left the docks at 830 bumpy ride out. Lines in by 930, used sardines, and squid. Watched large schools of Cobia swim past everyones lines. It was a parking lot out there and most boats were all parked about 20 ft apart all day… Had to move around from structure to structure but a great day on the water for us.
