Offshore Charleston 21AUG15

Lots of amberjack, b-liners, and ARS. Only kept what was legal and we were going to eat.

Love the boat, love the boat name, hate the barracuda. Cool report and thanks for the pictures. I haven’t seen anyone around here throwing tube lures at the cudas but if that’s your thing, the live bottoms are thick with MONSTERS that are over 5’. Just don’t eat the, you will get very sick.

So you’re going to eat the cuda and AJ’s ? I’ve had AJ before fried, not awful, not awesome. Cigutera, no thank you

No, the cuda was not for eating. Just fun to get back at them for biting half our fish as we reel them in to the boat. We release the cudas. The Aj’s we keep just cut out the worms in the tail and they are fine.

10-4. It really is amazing how much damage a barracuda can do in the blink of an eye. They have incredible accuracy when coming in for the kill.

Looks like that net got the worst part of that cuda…

I’ve been told that you can eat Cuda, caught in the Atlantic! You can’t eat the ones from the Gulf, because they eat fish that have been feeding on Red Corral in the Gulf! The Red Corral has the toxins the will make you sick! Don’t take my word for it, but heard it from a Georgia fishing guide, on a fishing TV show! No Red Corral in the Atlantic:question::question::question::question::question:

people right here in Charleston have contracted ciguatera from eating local barracudas

As nasty as they smell I don’t think I would ever want to eat one. Taste like… I’m guessing.

I won’t even bring them in the boat.

Gaff them real good, retrieve the hook and send him back to play with his buddies.
