No this isn’t a post about how far I can get in my boat and do I need EPIRB and seatow. Im 14 years old and I’ve never been offshore fishing. I just started really fishin last year so I didn’t really have an opportunity. I really want to try it though, I always read the reports and discussion forum. It sounds fin when you to on someone else’s boat until you get a big enough one. I doubt I could make it to the good grouper spots in my kayak:smiley:. How much could I expect to pay for a trip ballpark for trolling or bottomfishing, or a little both? And what is included in my cost of a ride? My dads only off work on Tuesdays so he’s available to fush a lot. If we have to pay charter prices ill just stick to redfish. Haha thanks guys… and gals!

ummm it all depends on what size boat the person has and what size motors and how many of them they have. the ballpark figure for offshore fishing for phins and going out to the ledge and trolling all day is anywhere from 80 bucks a person to ab 150 or more. ALOT goes into account for how much the trip will be. it depends on how many people is splitting the cost. how the weather is( determines how much fuel you burn. seriously) how much bait the person brings. how much food you want to eat during the day. offshore fishing and having fun is not really that cheap. all in all you better have ab $225 to even consider going. just my two cents worth. i have gone offshore a good bit adn trust me ALOT of things factor into how much the cost per person is.

I’ll take you and your yak to the ledge just to try and get some footage of you catching a monster in a yak.
Phinfreak nailed it… usually about $80 a person on my CC w/ 4 people… $120-$150 on the W/A
I went fishing with a guy with trips and we lost a motor on the way out… all 6 of us onboard were expecting to pay about $100 a person… but running on two motors doubled the fuel consumption, and we were hit for about $200 each. Didn’t help he ran it WOT the whole way out and in (wasn’t his boat)… chit happens

I might have to take ya up on that one day, at least reef fishin BSB or spades or even AJs. Although the only way to create a better memory of your first dolphin is to do it in a yak!

I usually ask for $80 each for my boat, a 24’ CC and I fish 4 people. Trip expenses are about $300-350 total for an all day fishing trip to the ledge.
So did you ever get to go to do any offshore fishing?

I too have never went offshore fishing, but always wanted to. Mostly just some finshing in small lakes, but would enjoy tryin to catch a sailfish or something like that. If you could find a charter like dreamin-on mention, I would be wiling to pay the $80 for both you and I, But Only with your parents approval. I will be there in charleston from July 25th to July 29th. So let me know and we can see if we find something, but please talk with your parents first.

Well your comin in on a wed and leavin on sun so probably pretty good, if the weathers not bad. It all depends on weather. Dreamin on is actually the cheapest I’ve heard so far.
