Went out with 3 good guys to the shipping channel last thursday looking for cobias. It was pretty snotty and found no cobias but each bagged nice AJ’s to give friends some fish.
Went out today, 5/23 to 4KI straight out of the stono. Lot of spades, aj’s and barrcudas at the robinson ship. Visibility was terrrible. Between me and mike shot 16 nice 5-8lb spades. Shot 2 AJ’s. One of the coolest ocean experiences of my life today as 1,000 or so small, medium, and large sand colored stingrays moved through the area in a big school. Looked like a massive brown underwater weedline. 3 cobia were following them. We circled around and I swam in head-on 3 different times. First attempt shot a nice 25-30 lb cobia. 2nd attempt shot the big 50lber and not having a float attached to the gun I had to fight him . Fish straightened at 600 lb snap swivel attached to my shaft and lost him underwater. 3rd attempt no more cobia. Coolest thing ever swimming throught that many big rays and gettingg to shoot at something cool. Just filetted a bunch of fish. Good day
