Headed out of wappoo cut at five. Fish on by seven at the south west banks. Left rigger came out before i got two lines in. Cow Slinger. Was rough as hell but ended the day with seven dolphin, 1 Bull about 20 One sail, one cuda, and one king. Missed one other sail in the propwash. He tore up my spanish mackeral but never sank a hook. Had ten or better cut offs. Never got all the lines in for bites. Downrigger was hot. started trolling towards shore at nine. Trolled all the way five miles shy of the y 73. All in all a great rough day. Cant figure out how to post pics. Will post them as soon as possible.
No weed lines, temp was 79 with no breaks, but the fish were everywhere. We only stayed out at the ledge for 2 hours or so before we started trolling in. Picked fish up all the way to 110. Had six cut offs at one time in the 130s. Never missed a fish other than the one propwash sail at the ledge. Sails were in the 170s to 200. Had a good bull follow behind the boat while fighting the sail for about five mins but didnt have the manpower to feed him anything. Too busy in the rough seas. Good Luck though. I like the Southwest banks but i would follow the temp breaks on sst.
You’d be well-served to take the sailfish pic off the board…once the internet po-lice chime in, you’ll see why.
Good day…I don’t mind it being a little bumpy as long as the fish cooporate.
“Never argue with an idiot…he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.”
He hit a pink and blue islander sailure behind a bird chain. Other sail we missed hit a spanish mack behind a squid chain and then the ballyhoo behind the spreader bar.
I dont believe in keeping billfish. But i will say that we kept this one to keep from breaking the law that i had never heard of until i posted the picture of this sail i caught twenty years ago in mexico.
