Offshore leader

What do you guys use as a leader for dolphin and the likes? Do any of the local shops sell big offshore flies?

You can but RIO big game leaders but they are expensive. If you can tie a Bimini Twist you can mae your own but all that really isn’t necessery! Make a 4 ft butt section out of 60# and attach it to your fly line with a loop knot in the end of the section. With that butt section, you can change out your leaders as necessery. Twist up a 3 ft section of 30 and tie off w/ a Bimini…Oh, nevermind go buy em! They’re a PITA.
Or better yet, just us a traditional fly leader with an adequate shock on the end…its plenty of dolphin.
Regarding flies, big clousers and half/halfs are great as well as superhair, polarfiber and the likes baitfish patterns. With the peanuts it doesnt have to be big but the big bulls like em large!

Nice, good way to boost that post count of yours.....mindless drivel......

He took the bait like a jugbelly redfish on an olive and white clouser.

If you are just wanting to catch fish, I’d go with a shorter loope to loope system so I could adjust the type, size and lenght to the conditions and size of the fish I was targeting. If you are on aggressvie fish it won’t matter all that much, if they get picky then lengthen your leaders, down size your flies and use FC.
