Offshore May 29

We decide to face the elements on Friday. forecast was predicting 4 footer at 8 seconds. We headed out in search of the illusive dolphin fish. Made our way out about 25 to 30mph in an unorganized ocean. Dropped lines in around 200ft. Scattered weeds water temp 80 degrees. Managed to hook up on a nice fish. While we were fighting the fish we had another hook up. Put both fish in the boat. Trolled east to about 300 feet and found a good rip with scattered weeds. Hooked up a couple more fish. Hooked up 8 dolphin put 5 in the boat and had 2 cutoffs. Trolled west to around 175 feet and found a fishy looking rip. We must have trolled into a barracuda migration. we caught over 15 cudas before we decided to pickup and head in.
Overall we had a great day. Water temp range was 78.5 to 80.5. Sea conditions were a little rough but manageable.
Thanks to Jason, Art, Ryan, and Lutie for their help.

Good stuff Greg. I took my SeaHunt out on Saturday for some bottom fishing and it wasn’t too bad but I still got queasy a few times when we were drifting in the trough. The other week we also had to run from the cudas on the ledge. Tons and tons of them. I wish cuda fish dip was a thing…
My boat went out today but I didn’t hear how they did. I hope the fishing was as nice as the weather.

Nice fish, nice boat. We fished past two Thursdays 175-330 ft,only1 cuda fortunately.
Saturday evening was a social harbor cruise only- we passed you outbound on the Ashley as you returned to Ripley. Crew looked content!

Thanks for the trip Capt. Had a lot of fun. The sea conditions were definitely challenging and barrage of cudas got their fill of ballyhoo.
