Offshore/Nearshore? Amberjack? Spades?

I’ve been wanting to carry out a kayak when I head out a few miles or amybe more, but have yet to do it. I will be fishing a good bit, hopefully, through the month of June. I need to increase my phone list on people to contact for trips and thought a few people might be interested in the idea a hooking a monster amberjack from a kayak. Again, I’m just curious if anyone would want to carry out there kayak in my boat, only to be dumped out to fish. Any potential takers?

if the water was flat I would be up for it …

Think safety gear and be sure you’re 100% on deep water re-entry before you think about it.

Need to break out the heavy boat rods and the Penn 330-LD’s…I can hear those baitclickers screaming now

I bought two rods for this two years ago and have been itching for that chance. You get ready to pull the trigger shoot me a pm. I’d love to get in on this. TB…on your advice, I practiced deepwater reentry last summer on a rushing outgoing tide. stillwater takes a couple practice runs, a rushing tide complicates things a bit.

I am down. I have tried to make this kind of trip happen and it never seems to work out. Depending on how far out you run, the mahi are supposed to be a blast from a yak! I have the gear and the perfect yaks for trolling.

Tommy,

When I first met Jordan he spoke of you and got me thinking about this. We’ll do it very soon, thinking mid April to give everyone a few more species to play with.

Anyone else interested just shoot me a pm with your phone # and your level of experience on the yak. What I mean about that is I’m willing to do it, but have virtually no experience. When “we” do this, SAFETY is priority #1, plain and simple. I’m thinking mid to late April will be a good starting time with everything peaking mid May. I promise, someone will get a least a shot at this.

Thanks for all the pms. I’ve taken some fishing vacation and the days that I’ll have available (wx cooperating) are 4/24-4/28, 4/30-5/2, 5/7-5/10, 5/16-5/18, and 5/23-5/26. When it gets closer to those dates, I’ll start sending out pms a few days in advance to see who is free. Really looking forward to watching ya’ll get towed around!

We need to compare notes to decide the best way to strap a yak to your rig. I’ve got a couple of ideas.
