We started out at the Edisto Banks and picked up a tuna at 6:00am. We headed out to the deep to daytime swordfish. We dropped baits 5 miles before and hooked up on a blue with 30lb tackle and 80 lb leader. We fought it for 1 hours and released it. We have awesome video.
Dude that truly is an awesome video…looks like it tried to get down and dirty on ya for a bit! Great job on the blue… looks like the angler had some endurance too! What did it bite on?
Thanks everyone. We were using a 30 Tiagra rigged with 30lb Momoi to an 80lb Spro swivel and 30ft of 80lb Jinkai leader with a 6/0 hook and a blue mylar seawitch. The entire fight was with 8lbs of drag until the very end and we bumped it up to 16lbs once the leader was on the spool and it was over. We had the leader on the spool twice and forgot to bump up the drag until the very end. The 2 times that the fish came up he took off like a train for the deep.
