I am looking for an experienced offshore fisherman or 2 looking to fish out of a folly beach marina the next several months. I have only fished the near shore reefs. 27 foot cat boat with dual 225’s, maintained, offshore raft, a couple of tld 25’s and epirb. Based on an acceptable weather forecast I can go out most days. Do you have much trouble going out the Stono Inlet? I have a similar boat.

I pick the days I go out the Stono Inlet carefully. I paid an experienced captain, out of Sunset Cay Marina, several years ago to mentor me and lay down tracks at low and high tide. I have never seen water less than 5-6 feet which is acceptable for a cat.
I am optimistic the next folly beach renourishment will get approval to pull sand from the stono lnlet with the side benefit of a safer marked and navigational inlet; the boaters of JI, Johns Is and Folly need a safe inlet.
