I’ve been looking at these for a little while now, reading reviews, and I’m very impressed at their price point. Josh at Southern Drawl is supposed to be getting two of the SGs in for me sometime soon. I’d be glad to let ya check them out next time you’re in town, just give me a call.
Also, charkbait.com has a pretty detailed video review.
I might pick up an SG in a few weeks to try is out. The mighty bottom expert showed brought them to my attention.

i really like the antireverse pawl to backup the antireverse bearing. plus with ceramic bearings, huge handle, and carbon drag seems to have all the makings of a powerful reel. only thing i can see that i am not fond of it the single large screw holding the handle on.
Good young guys running the company. Great service. Have seen 1 failure, yet every reel I own has had issues at some point.
Good real at a good price. They stand behind them.

That’s for the big stuff. It was only hooked to my dog…well I did shoot it with a pellet gun though…
I have a pair of the SG model, and they are wonderful! I have them spooled with 50lb power pro with a 20’ top shot of 80’ fluoro. I looked at all the options out there and these made the top of my list. I’m running them on Shimano Trevala 58xh rods.

Lifetime warranty.
Have watched them for a few years, and they have the reels right now. I would put them between an Avet and Accurate, which is where they’re priced. Wes is still making improvements while the reels are backordered. Shows they care about making things right and not just making initial sales.
I will have some soon.

Give me a shout anytime. I’d love to get out there with you. I’m working on getting equipped now… I’ll be ready as soon as Josh and Courtland get the gear in. I just got back from OI taking a shot at the blues; no luck. Time to get ready for the local stuff now.
What’s the gear ratio on the SG?
Met Wes at the Miami boat show when i stopped by his display. He walked me through the reel piece by piece and showed me how his parts compared to other traditional reels and how he was able to create significantly more drag with less reel size. He was able to completely take the reel apart and put it together in about 3 minutes and had nothing to hide. Very impressive display and product. I was even more impressed when he told me the price of the reels. I plan on having one before too long.

got 2 on the way now. hopefully get to put them to the test soon.
Their website says Atlantic game and Tackle carries them. I’d like to buy a pair of them as well but I want to see how they feel in hand first.

after the boat show season, it will be tough to find who has them in stock. just asking around a lot of shops are waiting months to get them.
